Candle Festival
Candle Festival marks the beginning of the Buddhist Lent. The festival features a great candle procession which reflects the belief in Buddhism and rituals associated with "Khao Phansa" or the Buddhist Lent, as well as the beauty and uniqueness of the art and culture of the Northeastern region. Candle Festival is celebrated about 20th of July and mostly in the Northeastern region /Ubon Ratchathani Province/. You can see great wax state-of-the-art products which are made several days before the Royal Candle Procession – candles of height 5 or more metres, statues, elephants etc.
Candle Festival like all Thai festivals, is colourful happening which is accompanied by special displays, demonstrations, light and sound performances, The Candle Road, candle-decoration competitions and many cultural presentations offering another great opportunity to get closer into local traditions, beliefs and way of life. The date of the Candle festival is not fixed, so check it in advance.
