Takraw
Takraw is another very popular sport not only in Thailand but in Southeastern Asia. It dates from 15th century from Malaysia. Takraw which means “kicking a rattan ball” is close to volleyball. The main difference from volleyball is that player cannot touch the ball with hands – they can use their feet, heads, elbows, shoulders and even the posterior.
The ball should not fall on the ground. Each team has 3 players and maximum of 3 contacts with the ball are allowed before throwing the ball to the other team. The ball is made of rattan or osier. The net is about 5 feet above the ground.
